Our Founders
Baji Maryam – Angel of Mercy
Maria Anna Bugeja, affectionately known as Baji Maryam, is a lay missionary from Malta who founded Angel’s Home on July 9, 2022. With nearly 50 years of humanitarian work in Pakistan, her unwavering compassion has impacted thousands of lives. She has tirelessly served women prisoners, children, and individuals suffering in silence, often rescuing them from unjust confinement and reuniting them with their families.
From Punjab to Sindh to KPK, her legacy is embedded in advocacy against violence, support for the oppressed, and the establishment of shelter homes for women facing systemic abuse. Baji Maryam is a humble visionary whose selfless acts laid the foundation for one of the most impactful NGOs in Pakistan.
Morris Khurshid – Driving Social Change
Morris Khurshid, a renowned social activist, co-founded Angel’s Home to extend support to children with disabilities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. With over 20 years of leadership experience at Dar ul Sukun, his commitment to social welfare centers in Pakistan is unmatched. Guided by the teachings of Father Otto Postma and inspired by Sr. Gertrude Lemmens and Sr. Ruth Lewis, Morris has dedicated his life to service, advocacy, and dignity for all.
His work with UNHCR and Catholic Social Services, along with his extensive academic background in social work, solidifies his role as a pillar of strength for AHWO.
